ECHO SAILING

Text Box: Employee Detail

The Past: Andy has been sailing since day 1 on Optimists to 40 foot Racing Yachts, he did his first offshore when he was eight and was hooked fully from then on, it is often that he has to ‘sea sick’ from college on a Friday. His first boat of his own was a 14 New Cat f2 catamaran, he has from then found success helming a Hobie Dragoon to success at the 2008 National Championships and EuroCat, and crewing on a F18 he has finished 2nd at the 2009 Nationals Championships.

The Future: Andy is a member of UK Youth Spitfire Squad and is campaigning towards 2011 Youth Worlds in Zadar, Croatia with crew, Gilly Sutcliffe. Alongside this he hopes to fit in some inshore and offshore keelboat racing, some hopefully being double or single handed. Looking further forward Andy has many ideas, the most prominent being to compete in the Mini Transat Race, a transatlantic race in 21 Foot Mini 6.50’s which sport the sail area of a 40 footer.
